Privacy Policy
Last updated June 20, 2026 · MatchChaser is an independent tool for US-based USPSA shooters.
This Privacy Policy explains what MatchChaser ("we", "us") collects, how we use it, and the choices you have. MatchChaser is an independent service and is not affiliated with the United States Practical Shooting Association (USPSA) or PractiScore. The service is intended for residents of the United States.
Information we collect
- Account info you provide: email address, display name, optional USPSA member number and expiration, and home city/state.
- Sign-in with Google (optional): if you choose to sign in with Google, Google shares your name and verified email address with us to create or access your account.
- Data you enter: classifier scores, matches, round/ammo logs, gear you own, and any comments you post.
- Imported records: when you use USPSA classifier sync or PractiScore match import, we fetch publicly available pages from uspsa.org or practiscore.com at your request and save the resulting classifier scores and match results to your account.
- Payment & membership info: if you donate or subscribe, our payment processors (Stripe and PayPal) handle your card and payment details — we never receive or store your full card number. We keep a processor customer/subscription identifier, your plan and subscription status, and a record of donations (amount and date).
- Technical data: IP address, browser/user-agent, and timestamps, recorded in server logs and our audit log for security and troubleshooting.
How we use it
- To operate the service — compute your classification, projections, leaderboards, and community features.
- To secure accounts (login throttling, lockouts, audit logging) and prevent abuse.
- To send only the emails tied to your account (verification, password/email changes, and any optional notifications you enable in your profile).
- To process optional memberships and donations and to provide member features.
Analytics & advertising
We may use privacy-respecting analytics (e.g., Google Analytics) to understand aggregate usage. We may display advertisements within the app. We do not sell your personal information.
Cookies
We use a session cookie to keep you signed in. If analytics or ads are enabled, those services may set their own cookies.
Signing in with Google
You can create your account or sign in using Google. When you do, Google shares your name and verified email address with us so we can set up or access your account — we request only your basic profile and email, and we never post to your Google account or read anything else from it. If an account already exists with that email, we link the two so you can use either method. Google's handling of your information is governed by Google's Privacy Policy. You can also set a password in Profile → Security to sign in directly with your email.
Fetching your USPSA & PractiScore data
The classifier sync and match import features retrieve publicly available pages from uspsa.org and practiscore.com at your request. To load those pages reliably we use a third-party web-retrieval service, to which we send the page address — for USPSA, that address includes your member number, which is part of the public classification URL. We import the resulting scores and match results into your account, and we don't share your other MatchChaser data with these sites.
How information is shared
- Community features: your display name and stats can appear on classifier leaderboards and community gear lists — you control this in Profile → Privacy (you can opt out and still use the app).
- Service providers: companies that process data on our behalf to run the service — hosting, email delivery, payment processing (Stripe and PayPal), and a web-content retrieval service. They may use your information only to provide their service to us.
- Legal: when required by law or to protect the service and its users.
- We do not sell your personal information.
Your choices
- Privacy toggles: hide yourself from leaderboards and community gear lists.
- Email preferences: turn off non-essential emails (security emails are always sent).
- Delete your account: from your profile. We anonymize your account — your name, email, USPSA number, and location are erased — while keeping de-identified records so site statistics stay intact.
Data retention & security
We keep your information while your account is active. Passwords are stored only as salted hashes; tokens are stored hashed. Deleting your account anonymizes your personal information as described above.
Children
MatchChaser is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their information. Shooters under 18 should use the service with a parent or guardian's involvement.
Changes
We may update this policy; we'll revise the "last updated" date above. Significant changes may also be announced in the app.
